Environment and Disarmament
Weapons and armed conflict have a plethora of impacts on the environment and the climate. The military-industrial complex’ greenhouse gas emissions surpass those of entire countries, accelerating the climate crisis. Rivers and lakes are contaminated by toxic remnants of war, left behind from armed conflict. Forests burn when the environment is used as a weapon of war.
